Lady Essex Cheke was the daughter of Robert Rich, Earl of Warwick, and Penelope Devereux (daughter of the first Earl of Essex), and the wife of Sir Thomas Cheke. The daughter Essex was first married to Sir Robert Bevill of Chesterton, Huntingdonshire before her marriage to Lord Mandeville (later Earl of Manchester) in 1642.
